IWK Partnering With Private Clinic In Effort To Cut Surgery Wait Times

The province says the IWK is partnering with a private clinic in the Halifax area to reduce wait times for surgeries.

Starting in February, IWK surgeons and anesthesiologists will perform some less-complex procedures at Scotia Surgery in Dartmouth with the clinic’s nurses.

The province says the 13-month arrangement has the potential to significantly reduce the pandemic-related backlog for pediatric surgery.

The partnership will see the IWK spend $1.16 million through its internal funding.

The province says the partnership will be evaluated in March of 2023.
