Ivany Report Goals To Be Discussed At CBU

Municipal, Provincial and Federal officials will be meeting at Cape Breton University this evening to discuss the region’s progress in meeting the goals of the One Nova Scotia Report.

The document, also known as the Ivany Report, was penned in 2014 by a 5-member commission tasked with identifying ways to meet the province’s economic challenges.

Now Senator Dan Christmas was one of the commissioners, and tonight’s meeting comes after Christmas recently made the controversial suggestion that Cape Breton should start looking at the possibility of attaining provincehood.

CBU Political Scientist Tom Urbaniak will lead what’s been called a roundtable discussion tonight on the Ivany Report’s goals, and the event is open to the public.

It’s scheduled to take place at the Multiuniversity Room, near the entrance to the Boardmore Theatre, at 6:30.
