It’s Provincial Budget Day

Finance Minister Karen Casey says the Liberal government will table its fourth consecutive balanced budget today with room to spend in key areas including health care.

The government announced its biggest capital plan since coming to power earlier this month.

691.3 million dollars has been set aside for hospitals, schools and highways in 2019-20.

Casey says the budget will have more money for areas of the health budget, including mental health and long-term care.

She says the budget will also see increases for education.

Casey is due to deliver her budget address in the Legislature at around 1:15, this afternoon.
