Initial Mining At Donkin Later This Year

The company with royalties in coal sales from the Donkin Mine says initial mining at Donkin is expected to begin in the second half of the year.

Dartmouth-based Morien Resources adds testing of coal from the mine by Nova Scotia Power is expected to begin in the next 60 days.

It goes on to say there are now 36 people working at the site and recruitment for the operating phase is continuing.

Other updates include completion of an electrical line from Glace Bay to a newly constructed sub-station and the nearing of completion of tunnel refurbishment.
