Inflation Rate Falls To 2.8 Percent In June

Statistics Canada says the national inflation rate in June was 2.8 percent.

That’s down from 3.4 percent in May.

However, the federal agency says gasoline prices led the slowdown in the Consumer Price Index, last month.

It says excluding gasoline, inflation would have been 4% in June with grocery prices and mortgage interest costs contributing the most to the increase.

Nova Scotia’s inflation rate for June was 1.9 percent.
