Statistics Canada says the national inflation rate in August was 2 percent.
The federal agency says that’s the lowest rate since February of 2021, and is down from 2.5 percent in July.
It says the August drop was led by lower prices for gas while mortgage interest costs and rent remained the biggest contributors to the increase last month.
The agency says, excluding gasoline, the inflation rate in August was 2.2 percent.
Meanwhile, Nova Scotia’s inflation rate in August dropped to 1.2 percent.
