Houston To Visit PM In Ottawa

Premier Tim Houston says he’ll be going to Ottawa on Monday to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

It will be Houston’s first trip to Ottawa as Premier.

The Premier’s Office says the agenda will include discussions on healthcare and affordable housing.

Houston will also be speaking with Trudeau and Immigration Minister Sean Fraser to try to reduce processing times for people trying to become permanent residents, increase immigration numbers and increase support for training.

Also on the agenda is the so-called Atlantic Loop project that would see an upgrading of the power grid in New Brunswick to bring in hydro power from Labrador and Quebec and help the region move away from the use of coal.
