Holiday COVID Restrictions Announced

New COVID-19 restrictions will be in place across the province for three weeks during the holidays.

The new restrictions were announced this afternoon after the province reported 4 new cases of COVID-19.

All of the new cases are in the Central Zone.

The restrictions will take effect on Monday and will stay in place until January 10th.

They include a limit of 10 people gathering in homes, including people who live in the homes.

Social events, festivals, special events, arts and cultural events and sports will not be allowed.

However, exceptions are being made for religious services, where up to 150 people will be allowed for outdoor events.

Indoor religious services will be limited to 50 percent of a building’s capacity up to a maximum of a hundred.

Other restrictions include earlier closing times for restaurants and bars and people in long-term care can have two designated caregivers and a limited number of visitors.
