Heavy Garbage To Begin June 26th

A date has been set for this year’s heavy garbage collection in the Regional Municipality.

People are being told have their large, heavy or bulky garbage at the curb no later than 6:00 in the morning on Monday, June 26th.

The municipality says a number of things will not be taken, including electronics, propane tanks and hazardous waste, as well as vehicle parts, yard debris, asphalt roofing shingles and fluorescent lights.

The scheduling of heavy garbage comes after it continued to be a subject of contention in budget talks this year with staff floating the idea of cancelling the collection to help deal with a shortfall.
