Heavy Garbage Starts Today

Heavy garbage collection is starting today in both the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and Victoria County.

People in both municipalities were asked to have their heavy and bulky items by the side of the road for pickup by 6:00 this morning.

The list of items that can be put out for heavy garbage includes old furniture, appliances, carpeting and vinyl windows and doors.

Vehicle parts and tires, old electronic equipment, asphalt shingles and propane tanks are among the items that will not be collected.

More details on what can and can’t be put out for collection can be found on the websites for both municipalities.

Collection vehicles will visit each area only once in both the CBRM and Victoria County.
