Heavy Garbage Fire Hazard

The chief of the North Sydney volunteer fire department has a message for people after fire destroyed a former Laundromat in North Sydney on the weekend.

Lloyd MacIntosh, says the Saturday blaze began in heavy garbage piled up against the vacant building.

MacIntosh is warning people not to pile their garbage up against any building because it’s an accident waiting to happen.

Meanwhile, the fire-damaged building at the corner of Caledonia and Pleasant streets in North Sydney is due to be torn down, today.

Heavy garbage pickup will begin a week from today.
