Environment and Climate Change Minister Tim Halman announced new example municipal land-use planning bylaws today to help municipalities regulate development along the coast.
The announcement took place at the Sydney Waterfront Campus of the Community College.
The province says the example bylaws were informed by ongoing consultation with the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities and the municipalities they represent.
The Federation is getting a million dollars over three years to help municipalities adopt coastal protection bylaws unique to their needs.
The province is also setting aside $344,000 to create a climate change policy and sustainability analyst position to help municipalities with climate change measures.
