Halifax Shipyard to Build a Sixth Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan says Ottawa will be buying a sixth Arctic and offshore patrol ship from Irving’s Halifax Shipyard.

Sajjan made the announcement at the Shipyard this morning in front of a crowd of nearly 2-thousand people.

This morning’s announcement comes after Ottawa announced yesterday it plans to divide maintenance and repair contracts for Navy frigates among the Halifax shipyard and shipyards in Quebec and British Columbia.

The union for workers at the Halifax Shipyard calls that decision an utter disappointment.
