Halifax Man Charged in Death of Catherine Campbell

Halifax Police have charged a man in connection to the death of Truro police officer, Catherine Campbell.

Twenty-seven-year-old Christopher Calvin Garnier from Halifax has been charged with second degree murder and indecently interfering with a body.

He’s due in Halifax Provincial Court today.

Campbell’s body was found under the Barrington Street ramp to the MacKay Bridge in Halifax, early yesterday morning.

Police took Garnier into custody a little more than an hour after the discovery of her body.

Yesterday, police said they believe Garnier and Campbell knew each other.

Campbell was reported missing after she failed to show up for work on Monday.

Police say she was last seen in a downtown Halifax bar in the early morning hours of September 11th.
