Halifax Man Charged For Travel To CB

A Halifax man has been charged for travelling to Cape Breton while public health restrictions are in effect.

RCMP say they stopped a speeding vehicle on the Cabot Trail in St. Joseph Du Moine near Cheticamp at about 6:30 Monday evening.

They say officers learned the driver came to the island to hike the Skyline Trail in the Highlands National Park.

Police charged the man under the Health Protection Act for non-essential travel outside of his municipality.

The ticket carries a fine of over $2,400.
