Guards Charged In Sydney Man’s Death Due To Enter Pleas, Today

Two prison guards charged in the death of a Sydney man at Dorchester Penitentiary are due back in court today to enter pleas.

48 year-old Alvida Ross and 32 year-old Mathieu Bourgoin each face counts of manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death in the case.

They were charged after 33 year-old Matthew Hines died after being beaten and repeatedly pepper sprayed in May of 2015.

During a court appearance last month, the defence said it needed more time to go over a large amount of evidence in the case.

The prosecution says it’s handed over about 6,000 pages of evidence.
