Ground To Break Soon On New NSCC Campus

The province says the construction of the new Community College campus in downtown Sydney will start this month.

The college put out a tender on June 26th to start the construction phase of the project and the province says the tender is expected to be awarded within two weeks.

Other construction tenders will be put out over the next year and a half.

As construction gets underway, the playground near the fire station on the Esplanade will be removed and a section of the boardwalk south of Falmouth Street will be closed beginning at the end of this month.

A walkway will still be open on Falmouth Street with signs to redirect people to the sidewalk on the Esplanade.

The cost of designing and developing the new campus is estimated at about $18 million.

The campus is expected to open in September of 2024.
