Grand Opening Today for Sydney West Treatment Plant

Mayor Amanda McDougall-Merrill will host an open house and grand opening this morning for the new Sydney Harbour West Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The event is scheduled to get underway at the new treatment plant on the Point Edward Highway at 10:00.

The Sydney Harbour West project includes new sewage collector lines and a new treatment plant for homes and businesses in Sydney River, Westmount, Coxheath and the Sydport industrial park.

Last fall, Public works director Wayne MacDonald told Regional Council the project was coming in about $15 million under its estimated cost of $58 million.
