Grabher License Plate Appeal Taking Place Today

A Dartmouth man is appealing a court ruling on his personalized licence plate at the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, today.

The province’s Registry of Motor Vehicles revoked Lorne Grabher’s personalized licence plate in 2016.

It says the plate could be misinterpreted as promoting sexual violence toward women.

Grabher took his case to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, where he argued the province violated his charter right to freedom of expression.

However, the court ruled in January of last year there’s no guaranteed right to freedom of expression on government-issued licence plates.
