Goyens Out As Eagles Head Coach

The Cape Breton Eagles say the team and head coach Jon Goyens have mutually agreed to part ways.

Eagles majority owner Irwin Simon says Goyens brought the organization back to the playoffs for the first time in three years and they’re grateful for his leadership during the past season.

However, Simon says after the team’s evaluation of the season and discussions with Goyens, both parties came to the conclusion a change would be beneficial.

Goyens was hired last July and served just one season as head coach.

Eagles General Manager Sylvain Couturier says an extensive search for a new head coach will begin right away.
