by The federal and provincial governments have announced a ten-year extension of the moratorium on oil and gas exploration and drilling on Georges Bank.
The moratorium had been set to expire at the end of this year.
Georges Bank is a large submarine bank at the edge of the Atlantic continental shelf between Cape Cod and Nova Scotia.
It’s a natural habitat for a wide range of marine life and supports important commercial fisheries.
