Gas prices jump again overnight

Nova Scotians are paying more at the pump this morning after the province’s Utility and Review Board invoked its interrupter clause to raise gas prices again last night.

Gas now sells for a minimum of $1.77.2 on Cape Breton Island, a jump of 8.7 cents per litre.

Diesel prices rose by 6 and a half cents a litre overnight; the minimum price for a litre of diesel in Cape Breton is now $1.92.1.

The board says the increase is necessary because of major changes in the market prices of gas and diesel.
