Gardiner Mines Man Makes Court Appearance On Weapons Charges

A Gardiner Mines man appeared in Sydney Court for arraignment on weapons charges today after police were called to his home yesterday.

62-year-old Michel Robert Gallagher is charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Assault with a Weapon, Pointing a Firearm and Careless Use of a Firearm.

Police say they were called to Gallagher’s Seaside Drive home at about 1:30 yesterday afternoon, when they were told he’d made threats with a weapon from inside the home.

Police set up roadblocks in the area, and Gallagher was arrested at about 4:30 and later brought to the Regional Hospital for assessment.

Police say firearms and ammunition were seized from the home.

Gallagher is due back in court for a bail hearing tomorrow.
