A funeral mass will take place later this morning for well-know community activist Father Greg MacLeod.
MacLeod died on May 3rd at the age of 81 after a lengthy illness.
He was one of the founders of community economic development organization New Dawn Enterprises and the BCA Group.
The Sydney Mines native was ordained in 1961 and was appointed to teach at Xavier Junior College in Sydney.
He became involved in community economic development when the coal mines were closing in 1969.
Macleod also founded the Tompkins Institute at Cape Breton University and was a member of the Order of Canada.
His funeral mass will get underway at 11:00 this morning at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sydney Mines.
