Funeral For Doug MacPhee, This Morning

A funeral took place in New Waterford this morning for Cape Breton pianist Doug MacPhee.

MacPhee died last Wednesday at the age of 85.

His obituary says he was known as one of the true virtuosos of Cape Breton piano playing.

MacPhee’s music can be heard on more than 50 recordings as well as his five solo albums.

He was a recipient of the Order of Canada and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Cape Breton University in 2021.
