The Province says it’s providing $8 million to help organizations supporting women experiencing gender-based violence on this International Women’s Day.
Highlights include $4 million for the Transition House Association of Nova Scotia to support programs focused on women and their families.
Nine transition houses and the Naomi Society are each getting a $100,000, one-time increase to their operational budgets.
They’re also getting $100,000 each to provide more programming for men and boys, victims of human trafficking, and improve second stage housing.
And the Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association and the Jane Paul Indigenous Resource Centre in Sydney are together getting $250,000 to help with increased operating costs and provide localized programming.
