Funding Announced For CBU Dome

Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway has announced half a million dollars in federal money to replace the inflatable sports dome at Cape Breton University.

The dome has been unusable because of damage suffered during a winter storm in February of 2020.

The new dome, known as the Cape Breton Health Recreation Complex, will feature a cabling network to withstand high winds and larger roof snow loads.

Work on the dome is expected to begin in the spring.

The dome is scheduled to host next year’s U Sports Men’s Soccer Nationals Championship and the 2024 Under 17 Boys and Girls National Club Championships.
