Free Bus Rides This Summer

Regional Council has voted unanimously to offer free rides on Transit Cape Breton buses for July and August.

The try-the-bus campaign is part of a pilot project to encourage more people to take the bus.

Mayor Cecil Clarke says a public relations summer student will also help with the effort to promote the bus service.

The free trial period will lead up to the introduction of a monthly bus pass in September.

A new “where’s my bus?” mobile app is also going to be introduced.

The campaign will also see Regional councillors and senior administrators take transit buses for a day to see how the service runs first-hand.
