Four Charged After Police Seize Hundreds of Prescription Pills

Four people appeared in Sydney Provincial Court today to face a combined total of 20 charges after Regional Police conducted drug raids at homes in Birch Grove and Glace Bay last night.

The raids took place on 1st Street in Birch Grove and Cottage Street in Glace Bay, and police say they seized more than 400 prescription pills,  including Ritalin, Percocet, Hydromorphone, codeine, Lisdexamphetamine and Clonazepam.

They say marijuana and cash were also seized.  

Those charged include 60 year-old Graham Leslie Toomey from Birch Grove, 49 year-old Tammy Wanda Gale from Glace Bay and 62 year-old George Derrick MacNeil from Glace Bay.

They’re all facing five counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and single counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

MacNeil is also charged with breaching a court order.

Also charged in the case is 60 year-old Joseph Alexander Neary, from Birch Grove, who’s facing a count of Possession of Marihuana.
