Two former members of the Florence Volunteer Fire Department charged in connection to a string of arsons are due back in court today for plea hearings.
24 year-old James Clayton MacDonald, from Point Aconi, faces 16 counts of arson and 49 year old Stephen Eric Tremblett, from North Sydney, faces 13 counts.
Police laid more charges against the pair in October.
The additional counts include arson with disregard for human life, unlawfully being in a dwelling and trespassing at night.
All but two of the fires in the Florence, Little Bras d’Or and Millville areas involved abandoned buildings and no injuries were reported as a result of the blazes.
Meanwhile, another former member of the Florence Volunteer Fire Department has elected to be tried by a Supreme Court judge and jury on arson charges.
32 year-old Gary Richard Luker from Florence faces two counts of arson involving property damage.
