Former Firefighters Charged With Arson Due In Court

Two former members of the Florence Volunteer Fire Department charged in connection to 16 arsons are due back in court today for a plea hearing.

24 year-old James Clayton MacDonald, from Point Aconi, faces 16 counts of arson and 49 year old Stephen Eric Tremblett, from North Sydney, faces 13 counts.

Police laid more charges against the pair in October.

The additional counts include arson with disregard for human life, unlawfully being in a dwelling and trespassing at night.

All but two of the fires in the Florence, Little Bras d’Or and Millville areas involved abandoned buildings and no injuries were reported as a result of the blazes.

MacDonald and Tremblett continue their release on conditions.
