Flags At Half Mast In Regional Municipality

Flags on all public buildings in the Regional Municipality are being flown at half mast starting today.

The gesture is in memory of the 215 children whose unmarked graves were found at the site of a former residential school in British Columbia.

Mayor Amanda McDougall announced on social media flags on all municipal buildings will be lowered for 215 hours or an hour for each child.

The province says flags on all provincial buildings and schools are also being lowered until sunset on June 8th.

And flags were being lowered on all federal buildings across the country yesterday at the request of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
