Five Sydney Residents Arrested In Guysborough Co. In Connection To Alleged Vehicle Theft

RCMP say they arrested five people in Guysborough County in connection to a vehicle theft in Cape Breton. At about 9 o’clock last night, police got reports of a suspicious vehicle driving around the Sherbrooke area. While responding to the call, officers received another report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 7 in Lochiel Lake. Police say a minivan had crashed into a ditch on Highway 7 after being stolen in the Sydney area. Four people were arrested at the scene of the accident, while a fifth was arrested a short time later. None of the five were injured. All five suspects are from Sydney. A 34 year-old man is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts each of breaching probation and breaching an undertaking, while a 30 year-old woman is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of breaching an undertaking. Those two suspects are due in Antigonish Provincial Court on September 18th. A 26 year-old man will be in court in Antigonish tomorrow to answer to charges of possession of property obtained by crime and a breach of probation. A 28 year-old woman and a 17 year-old boy also face a charge of possession of property obtained by crime. The woman is due in Antigonish Provincial Court on November 18th, while the youth is scheduled to appear on November 25th. The case remains under investigation.

His foray into radio began with a research position at The Coast, which led to the production of a radio documentary on the music of the Mi’kmaq people.
