Five of 77 dogs surrendered to Cape Breton SPCA ready for adoption

Five of the 77 dogs surrendered to the Cape Breton SPCA two weeks ago are ready for their forever homes.

Two are currently housed at the Pictou shelter and three at the Dartmouth shelter.

The dogs were surrendered after someone reached out to the animal protection society, feeling there were many animals on the premises and that the owner might need help.

The SPCA says it was not a case of cruelty, but a case of someone who started out with a handful of unneutered and unspayed males and females, not realizing how quickly things can get out of control.
