Fishermen Stage Protest At Donkin Mine

Several coal trucks were prevented from getting into the Donkin Mine site this morning when about a dozen fishermen parked their vehicles at the entrance.

Donkin Mine President Shannon Campbell spoke with the fishermen at about 11 o’clock this morning and the protesters agreed to meet with Campbell later this week or early next week.

The fishermen say the mine is putting their industry at risk.

They also say nobody is addressing their concerns over Kameron Coal’s plans to ship coal by barge.
