First Flood-Damaged Home Demolished

The first Sydney home heavily damaged after flooding from the Thanksgiving Day storm has been demolished, this morning.

Last month, Regional Mayor Cecil Clarke announced 17 property owners agreed to have their damaged homes torn down.

They also agreed to have their former neighbourhood designated a no-development zone.

Clarke also says the province has agreed to pay for the relocation of 24 homes.

He goes on to say homeowners will get fair pre-flood market value for their homes.

38 homes in the CBRM have been declared uninhabitable because of flood damage.
