First Day of Lobster Season

It’s the first day of lobster season in eastern Cape Breton.

The season in area 27 from Bay St. Lawrence to Forchu was supposed to start on Saturday.

However, the start was postponed because some fishermen had trouble getting their boats in the water due to the cold spring.

Last year, fishermen tied up their boats to protest the low prices they were getting for their catches.

This year, fishermen in P.E.I are frustrated by prices as low as $4.25 a pound for market lobsters.

But Glace Bay harbour rep Bob Truckair says he doesn’t think prices will be that low here.

Truckair says he hopes to get at least 5 dollars a pound for market lobster.
