First COVID-19 Vaccinations In Cape Breton Taking Place Today

Licensed Practical Nurse Darlene White was the first person in Cape Breton to get a COVID-19 vaccine today.

White is with the COVID unit at the Regional Hospital in Sydney.

The Hospital got 1,950 doses of the vaccine last week and is holding a vaccination clinic today.

Chief medical officer of health Dr. Robert Strang says health care workers and some long-term care workers are getting vaccinated at the Regional today.

The target groups in phase 1 of the province’s vaccination plan include healthcare workers, people 75 and older, and workers and residents in long-term care.
