The province has created new penalties for people who break COVID-19 gathering rules.
It says fines will start at just over $2,400 for a first offence.
The fine will increase to just over $11,600 for people who either organize or attend an illegal gathering.
Organizations will be fined just over $11,600 for a first offence and just over $57,600 for the second and each subsequent offence.
The province says people charged can also face jail time.
The changes come after Premier Tim Houston said yesterday he didn’t think a $2,400 fine was high enough for Amherst pastor Robert Smith who organized an event linked to three COVID-19 deaths and community spread in the Northern and Western Zones.
