Fine For Violating Daily Burn Restrictions Is Now $25,000

The provincial government has made a huge increase in the fine for violating the daily burn restrictions through a proclamation.

The fine for violating the restrictions is now $25,000, effective today until the end of the season on October 15th.

The fine was $237.50.

Burning isn’t allowed anywhere in the province between 8:00 in the morning and 2:00 in the afternoon because that’s often when the risk of wildfires is greatest.

The BurnSafe map is updated at 2:00 in the afternoon every day and shows the daily restrictions.

It can be found at novascotia.ca/burnsafe.
