The federal government is expected to make a long-awaited infrastructure funding announcement for the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, today. Justice Minister Peter MacKay will be in Sydney for the announcement along with provincial Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan. Details will be released during a news conference at 11:30 this morning at the Civic Centre in Sydney. Mayor Cecil Clarke has been pushing both the province and Ottawa to buy into his five-year capital plan for work on streets, sidewalks and aging water mains in the CBRM.
