Federal Funding Announcement Expected For Bayplex, Today

Cape Breton Canso MP Rodger Cuzner is expected to announce federal funding for the renovation of the Bayplex, later this morning.

The arena has been closed since last summer over concerns about structural problems and mold.

Regional Council set aside 4.5 million dollars for the municipality’s share of the renovation project during budget sessions in March.

Glace Bay MLA Geoff MacLellan and Regional Mayor Cecil Clarke are also due at the 11:00 o’clock announcement at the Savoy Theatre.

It’s hoped the renovation project will be finished by September of 2019.
