Eyking Back In Ottawa Today

Although Parliament has recessed for the summer, Sydney Victoria MP Mark Eyking is back in Ottawa, today.

Eyking is there in his capacity as chair of the House of Commons trade committee.

The committee is holding a special meeting today to hear about the economic pain of the Trump administration’s steel and aluminum tariffs.

The committee will hear nearly four hours of testimony from a dozen witnesses from metals and auto companies and their unionized workers.

Eyking says the meeting represents a show of solidarity aimed at the U-S.

On June 1, President Donald Trump imposed a 25 per cent tariff on steel imports and a 10 per cent tariff on aluminum coming from Canada, Mexico and Europe.
