Eskasoni Man Facing Second Degree Murder Charge

A 36 year-old Eskasoni man is due in Sydney Court today after another man from the community died on the weekend.

Albert Michael Bernard has been charged with second degree murder in the death of the 36 year-old Eskasoni man.

Police say they got the call to a serious assault on Spencer’s Lane in Eskasoni, shortly after 1:30 on Saturday morning.

They add officers found the victim when they arrived on the scene.

He later died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.

The man’s name has not been released.

Police say the suspect fled on foot and was arrested several hours later in Eskasoni without incident.

They add both men knew each other and their investigation is continuing.
