Eskasoni Man Faces Murder Charge After Fatal Crash

An Eskasoni man has been charged with second degree murder after a fatal single-vehicle crash in that community yesterday.

RCMP say 24 year-old MacKenzie Daniel Poulette was driving the vehicle.

He’s also facing a host of other charges, including criminal negligence causing death, two counts each of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and a number of impaired driving offences.

Police say they found a vehicle in the ditch off Route 216 in Eskasoni early yesterday morning.

A 24 year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the vehicle and two passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Poulette remains in custody.

Police say their investigation continues.
