ENS Rules On Advance Ballots In Northside-Westmount

Elections Nova Scotia has decided how it’s going to deal with some of the advance votes cast in the Northside-Westmount byelection.

Some people in that constituency voted before Danny Laffin was replaced by Murray Ryan as the Tory candidate.

Elections Nova Scotia says ballots marked only for the PC Party will be counted toward Ryan, while ballots will be counted as votes for Laffin if they include his name and are marked for the PC Party.

Ballots will also be counted for Laffin if they include only his name.

135 votes are affected by the decision.

Other candidates in the riding include New Democrat Ronald Crowther and Liberal Paul Ratchford.

Ron Parker is running for the Greens, Tom Bethell is running for the Atlantica Party, and Laffin and Andrew Doyle are running as independents.
