Eight New COVID Cases, Three In Eastern Zone

The province is reporting eight new cases of COVID-19 today on the first day of Phase 2 of its reopening plan.  

Three of those cases are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

Of those cases, two are close contacts of earlier reported cases and the other is under investigation.

13 recoveries are being reported today and there’s now a total of 92 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia.

Those include 27 cases in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and one in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.

Five people in the province are in hospital with the virus, including four in intensive care.

Premier Iain Rankin and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang are scheduled to give another COVID-19 update at 3:00 tomorrow afternoon.
