Eastlink is now looking at Scotchtown as a possible location for its new telecommunications tower.
Last year, the company backed away from a plan to put the tower at the corner of Hudson Street and Plummer Avenue in New Waterford after people in the area complained.
However, people in Scotchtown are also against the new site because it’s near the site of the local water tower.
Mary McLean owns two homes in Scotchtown and says she’s worried about radiation from the tower affecting the water supply.
She adds a petition is being circulated that they plan to take to Cape Breton Centre Liberal MLA Dave Wilton.
She’s says they’ve also contacted the local councillor Lowell Cormier.
