Early Voting Numbers Show Higher Turnout

Elections Nova Scotia has released the first early voting numbers of the provincial election campaign.

The numbers show a big increase in people voting early in this pandemic vote compared to 2017.

As of yesterday, the independent agency says a total of 10,040 early votes have been cast.

That compares with 3,378 votes at the same time during the 2017 election.

7,882 votes have been cast at returning office continuous polls compared to just 3,183 at this point four years ago.

And there have been 2,158 applications for write-in ballots while there were just 195 this far into the campaign in 2017.
