Dutt To Run For NDP In Sydney-Victoria

Local doctor Monika Dutt was officially chosen as the NDP candidate in the riding of Sydney-Victoria at a nomination meeting in Sydney, last night.

The Liberals’ Mark Eyking is already being challenged in the riding by Conservative John Douglas Chiasson, the Greens’ Adrianna MacKinnon, and Libertarian Michael Baldasaro.

Dutt has been the medical officer of health for the Cape Breton District Health Authority since 2012, and now serves in the same capacity in the Cape Breton region under the new Nova Scotia Health Authority.

She also works as a family doctor in the Wagmatcook First Nation and in Sydney.

The federal election takes place on October 19th.
